Terms of Service
Last updated: July 18, 2026
1. Summary (not a substitute for the full terms)
MetaBounty is a bounty marketplace. Funders lock supported fungible Solana coins in an on-chain escrow smart contract before a bounty goes live, contributors submit work, and the funder — not the platform — judges submissions and awards winners from escrow. Awards are claimable by the winner and can then be kept in the listed reward coin or, where supported, cashed out through a third-party settlement provider, subject to that provider's eligibility rules. The platform steps in only in the narrow cases described below: deadline-triggered auto-release, dispute arbitration after the review window, and content moderation.
2. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using MetaBounty (the "Services"), creating a bounty, boosting a reward pool, submitting work, commenting, or claiming an award, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
3. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced on the site with a new "last updated" date. Bounties are governed by the terms in effect when they were funded; the fee and deadline parameters quoted at funding are stored and are not changed retroactively.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter contracts. You may not use the Services if you are located in, organized in, or a resident of a jurisdiction subject to comprehensive sanctions, or if you are a sanctioned or restricted person under applicable law. Fiat cash-out is available only in markets supported by our settlement provider and is additionally subject to that provider's own eligibility, verification, and limit rules.
5. Roles
Funders create bounties, deposit the reward and the platform fee into escrow, define deliverables, and judge submissions. Contributors submit work and receive awards. Boosters are anyone (funder or third party) who adds to a live reward pool. The platform operates the site, the escrow contract, moderation, and late-stage arbitration as described in sections 9–11.
6. Bounty funding and escrow
A bounty becomes visible only after its full advertised reward, plus the disclosed platform fee, is deposited into the escrow smart contract and confirmed on-chain. Escrowed funds are non-withdrawable while the bounty is live. Anyone may boost a live bounty; every contribution is recorded per contributor on-chain.
Refunds of unawarded funds unlock only after the review and dispute windows have passed, and return pro-rata to the addresses that contributed them. Completed awards and already-collected fees are never clawed back by a refund or moderation action.
7. Submissions
Submissions must be your own work, must address the bounty's stated deliverables, and must comply with the content rules in section 12. You confirm, per deliverable, what your evidence covers; judging is performed against the deliverables exactly as written when the bounty was funded. One active submission per contributor per bounty. Submissions may be edited until the submission deadline; each version is retained.
8. Judging and awards
The funder judges. The funder may accept or reject any submission, award the full pool to one winner, split it across multiple winners in any amounts, or award it progressively while the bounty is live — up to the funds remaining in escrow. The number of winners stated on a bounty is the maximum payout cap communicated to contributors.
Awarding allocates funds on-chain to the winner, who then claims them to their wallet. An award, once allocated on-chain, is final. Rejection requires a stated reason but is otherwise at the funder's discretion, subject only to the dispute process in section 10.
9. Deadlines and auto-release
Each bounty has a submission deadline set by the funder (between 24 hours and 30 days), a 7-day review window after the submission deadline, and a 3-day dispute window after the review window. If a funder nominates a winner on-chain before the review deadline but does not complete the award, the nominated award may auto-release after a 48-hour grace period. The platform never selects a winner the funder did not nominate.
10. Disputes
A contributor with an active submission may open a dispute within the dispute window. Disputes are reviewed by the platform's arbitration process against the bounty's written deliverables and the evidence submitted. Arbitration can result in an award from remaining escrow or in confirming the funder's decision; every arbitration action is recorded with a reason code and evidence reference. Arbitration decisions within the platform are final. Opening a dispute does not freeze awards already allocated.
11. Moderation
Signed-in users may privately report a bounty for a suspected Terms violation. Reports do not remove a bounty automatically. We may pause new submissions, hide content from the site, restrict accounts, or block linked wallets from new platform activity after review. Moderation actions are logged with actor, reason, and evidence.
Site moderation is off-chain. It cannot seize, redirect, freeze, refund, or otherwise move escrowed funds, and it does not erase existing claim, refund, or dispute rights. Restricted users retain access to actions needed to recover or settle existing funds.
12. Prohibited content and tasks
Bounties, deliverables, submissions, and comments must not include or request:
- anything illegal in the poster's or performer's jurisdiction;
- minors visible in any capacity, including bystanders in recordings or photos;
- nudity or sexually explicit content;
- graphic violence, weapons, or threatening imagery;
- doxxing — sharing someone's personal information without consent;
- AI-generated work presented as authentic human proof where authenticity is required;
- targeted harassment, threats, or abusive content;
- fraud: fake reviews, engagement manipulation, impersonation, plagiarized or stolen work, sybil or duplicate submissions;
- market manipulation, or undisclosed paid promotion of financial products;
- malware, phishing, credential harvesting, or attacks on any system;
- collection or sale of personal data.
Wallet addresses posted as comments are removed automatically. Violations may result in content removal, disqualification, account or wallet restrictions, and reports to authorities where required. Any on-chain award or refund outcome remains governed by the escrow program and dispute process.
13. Fees
The platform charges the funder a single marketplace fee, disclosed as a percentage at bounty creation and deposited together with the reward. Winners receive the full advertised award amount. Cash-out to local currency carries no additional platform fee; network costs and the settlement provider's own terms apply and are shown before you confirm a cash-out.
14. Rewards, wallets, and cash-out
Awards are denominated and paid in the SOL, SPL Token, or compatible Token-2022 coins listed on the bounty. Claimed awards land in a wallet you control; SOL rewards are delivered as wrapped SOL. Optional cash-out to local currency is executed by an independent third-party settlement protocol; it may require identity verification, is subject to per-user limits, and its availability is not guaranteed. A delayed or failed cash-out does not affect your on-chain award, which remains yours. We never take custody of your private keys.
15. Intellectual property
You retain ownership of work you submit, and you grant the platform a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, display, and reproduce your submission for operating and promoting the Services. Upon receiving payment of an award for a submission, you grant the funder of that bounty a license to use the awarded deliverable for the purpose described in the bounty. Do not submit work you do not have the right to license.
16. Taxes and compliance
You are solely responsible for determining and paying any taxes that apply to amounts you receive or spend through the Services, and for your own compliance with the laws of your jurisdiction, including any digital-asset reporting obligations.
17. Assumption of risk
Digital assets involve risk. Smart contracts can contain defects; blockchains can reorganize; third-party providers (wallet infrastructure, settlement, storage) can fail or suspend service. Reward tokens are issued by third parties we do not control. You use the Services at your own risk.
18. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the platform's aggregate liability arising out of the Services is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim or USD $100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for the acts or omissions of funders, contributors, boosters, or third-party providers.
19. Indemnity
You will indemnify and hold the platform harmless from claims arising out of your use of the Services, your content, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.
20. Governing law and dispute resolution
Governing law, venue, and any arbitration mechanics for claims against the platform will be finalized with legal counsel before mainnet launch and stated here. Internal bounty disputes are handled exclusively through section 10.
